Seekh Kabab Recipe
Here's a simple recipe for delicious Seekh Kababs:
Ingredients:
500g minced lamb or beef (you can also use chicken)
1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
1-inch piece of ginger, minced
2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to your spice preference)
1/4 cup fresh coriander (cilantro), finely chopped
1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
1 tablespoon garam masala
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon gram flour (besan) or cornflour
Salt to taste
Wooden skewers (pre-soaked in water for 30 minutes)
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the minced meat, finely chopped onions, garlic, ginger, green chilies, fresh coriander, and mint leaves.
Add the garam masala, ground coriander, ground cumin, red chili powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, gram flour (or cornflour), and salt to the bowl. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly using your hands, ensuring that the spices are evenly distributed.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the mixture marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
Take the wooden skewers and divide the meat mixture into equal portions. Take each portion and mold it into a long cylindrical shape along the length of the skewer, pressing the mixture firmly to ensure it sticks to the skewer.
Place the skewers on the preheated grill or on a baking sheet if using an oven.
Cook the seekh kababs for about 10-12 minutes, turning them occasionally to cook them evenly on all sides. You can also brush them with some oil or ghee to keep them moist while cooking.
Once the kababs are cooked. remove them from the grill or oven.
Serve the Seekh Kababs hot with some mint chutney, sliced onions, and lemon wedges on the side.
