Kalonji Naan Recipe
Here's a simple recipe for kolonji naan for you:
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp kalonji (nigella) seeds
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup warm milk
2 tbsp oil or ghee
1 tsp active dry yeast
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, kalonji seeds, and yogurt. Add the frothy yeast mixture and oil/ghee.
Knead the ingredients to form a soft and smooth dough. You can add a bit of water if needed.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Preheat your oven,place a Pizza stone.
Punch down the dough and divide it into smaller portions, shaping them into round balls.
Roll out each ball into a flat naan shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
Sprinkle some kalonji seeds over the surface and gently press them in.
Carefully place the naans on the preheated stone in the oven.
Bake for about 2-4 minutes until the naan puffs up and gets golden brown spots on the surface.
Remove from the oven and brush with butter or ghee if desired.
