Garlic Naan Recipe
Here's a simple recipe for making soft garlic naan:
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons oil
1/4 cup warm water (approximately)
2-3 cloves of garlic (finely minced)
Fresh coriander leaves (chopped, for garnishing)
Butter (for brushing)
Instructions:
In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a larger bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Add the yogurt and yeast mixture. Mix well.
Gradually add more warm water if needed and knead the dough until it's smooth and elastic. Add oil and knead again.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small balls.
Roll each ball into an oval or round shape, about 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle some minced garlic and chopped coriander leaves on the naan and press them lightly into the dough.
Heat a tawa (flat griddle) on medium-high heat.
Dip your fingers in water and apply a thin layer of water on the one side of naan.
place the wet side of the naan onto the hot tawa.press gently to make sure it sticks to the tawa.
Cook for about a minute or until you see bubbles forming on the surface.cook the other side for another minute until it's cooked.
Remove the naan from the tawa and brush it with a little butter.
Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls.
Serve the garlic naan hot with your favorite curries or gravies.
Enjoy your delicious homemade garlic naan!
It turns out super tasty
